Sandpipers Early Years
Thank you for your interest in Sandpipers and/or MuddyFaces, and for taking the time to learn about our world. Sandpipers is a small, home-based, eco-friendly, play-based and nature-inspired preschool program for 2.6 to 5 year olds and beyond.
“1,825 days a five year old lives on this earth….. We are at the beginning of their journey as human beings… so much happens in those first 5 years. We are privileged in being part of the architecture that develops this human being to be all that they can be. We partner with their family and we are a pivotal part of what that future will look like for that child. That 1,825 is significant because the brain is under such construction at that point and it is about relationships and experience that is going to have the greatest influence on the development of that healthy brain... What we do in these first 5 years sets the stage, sets the tone, lays a map for how a child will be a learner for the rest of their lives.”

Building Strong Foundations
-
Promoting a sense of security through consistency, meaningful routine and developmentally appropriate practice.
-
Allowing children the environment to develop the courage to make mistakes and understand that we learn from them.
-
Nurturing loving kindness, compassion and empathy towards self and others. Reinforce ethical, inclusive values through Peaceful Classroom and anti bias education.
-
Supporting children in working together successfully with their peers in small groups and pairs to promote the social component of learning and understand the delight in interconnectedness.
-
Revelling in the magic and wonder of the natural world, to connect inwards and restore ourselves. To run with the wind, find secret spots, dream and imagine.
-
Immersing in nature as a rich and loving environment where all learning can take place.
-
Exploring the geography of Nantucket Island, to get to know the eco systems, wild life, experience seasonal changes., Also get to know what makes a town; a neighborhood/ community, meet people who help us, and feel a strong sense of belonging.
-
Growing all round readiness for a successful Kindergarten experience. Social, emotional, physical, cognitive, artistic and spiritual.
Early Childhood is a wonderful and memorable journey.
Thank you for considering Sandpipers to be part of yours.
